LOSING POUNDS RAISES £s FOR DINGLEY’s PROMISE

July 07, 2016

Lindsay Knox, General Manager of The Gym at Easthampstead Road in Bracknell has been friends with Sian McCoubrey for a long time.  So she knows the life-changing difference that Dingley’s Promise has made to Sian and her daughter, Alice, who attends the Reading Centre.  When an opportunity came around to be able to raise money for the local charity which she knew had helped her friend, she jumped at the chance.

Lindsay’s company, The Gym Group, operates a scheme whereby members of staff can nominate a charity to be considered to receive donations from new Memberships.  Each month all new Members joining any of The Gym Group’s 100 gyms across the UK, are given the choice to donate £1 to the chosen charity.  In this case, Dingley’s Promise was the chosen and nominated charity for the month of June.

At the end of the month, Lindsay was able to send Dingley’s Promise a cheque for over £6,000 !

“I was really pleased to be able to support a local charity that I know has done so much for my friend and her daughter” said Lindsay.  “I normally do crazy things, like walking and running, to raise money for charity, but this was a brilliant way to involve other people in my fundraising – and I have all the lovely new Members to thank for donating to the charity as they joined the gym.  Small amounts of money from lots of people, mounts up to lots of money for a small charity – who will be able to do so much with it; to help other children like Alice, and families like Sian’s”

Alice’s Mum, Sian McCoubrey said “I knew that Lindsay was doing something to raise money for Dingley’s Promise but I had no idea that she would be able to raise so much.  It is wonderful and I can’t thank her enough.”

Hannah Spence, Manager of Dingley’s Promise Reading Centre said “This is a perfect example of how local businesses can make such a positive difference to our work.  On behalf of everyone at Dingley’s Promise, I would really like to thank The Gym Group and Lindsay for this incredible donation.”

Thank you @thegymgroup        @TheGymGroup

And Thank you Lindsay!
