Our Frequently Asked Questions:
The sessions are for children with additional needs or disabilities. The majority of our referrals are made by Health and Educational Professionals however if you are waiting for a diagnosis we do accept self referrals so please do talk to the centre manager.
As you may know, over the past few years our funding from local authorities has started to drop, and increasingly they want to give direct payments to families instead of giving grants directly to charity service providers like us.
As a result of this change, we have no option but to respond by changing our system too. In April 2017, we are introducing a clear fee structure so that the value of our service appears on EHCPs and is considered as a service cost by the local authorities.
The majority of our families will be unaffected, and full details can be found in two documents “Payment eligibility criteria for parents” and “Fees Schedule April 2017” which can be viewed by following the links at the bottom of the main Parent Zone menu item.
Siblings are welcome at all holiday play schemes and trips but spaces during term time sessions are extremely limited.
Once your child is settled you are welcome to leave your child with the experienced qualified staff, although we are a family centre so you are welcome to stay.
Each centre has an area or room for families to have refreshments and to have the opportunity to talk to other parents.
Yes. We can introduce you to other parents/carers; sign post you to other services and show you strategies that will help with your child.
No, but we work very closely with the health professionals and they are welcome to visit your child at the Centre.
Each centre has a proportion of their funding by their local authorities; however each centre has to fund raise to make up the difference. We are always grateful to all our supporters us and more details can be found on the fundraising page.
Each centre has a variety of specialist equipment and seating. If your child needs a specific piece of equipment then we will try to arrange it.
Some of our children go on to a special school; however others go on to mainstream settings, some with support. It all depends on what is best for your child.
